News and Happenings

  • WE HAVE EMERGED!

    Greetings,

We just wanted to give a quick update on a big milestone for us.  On Monday night, Gambit Weekly named your’s truly as 2012’s “Best Emerging Artist” at the Big Easy Awards!  We are truly honored and humbled, and we absolutely did not expect recognition from a publication like Gambit.  We are also grateful to our fellow nominees, Alexis and the Samurai and Naughty Professor.  Of course, the win led to much celebration on our part…

While we are certainly still high on this news, it is time to get back to work. We have much to do in the coming months: writing new songs, practicing, and arguing over who gets to keep the trophy.  This is all leading up to our June 7th show at Carrollton Station with All People and Salesman (details coming soon)!

So we will be seeing you all very soon!  And one last big thanks to all of you — without the help of our families, friends, and fans, this award would not have been possible.

    ‘till next time…

  • Song Premiere from “Cowards” on MTV Hive! New music! Yes, already!

    Greetings!

We hope 2013 is treating you well and still has that “new year” smell.  2012 was a great year for us, and 2013 is shaping up to be just as good with MTV Hive helping us start this one right by premiering a new track!  The song is “No Matter What” from our freshly-released 7” vinyl, Cowards, which consists of songs from the Courage sessions that couldn’t fit on the album.  Click HERE to be the first on your block to hear this exclusive new music courtesy of MTV’s non-Jersey Shore division.

So click that link and listen and read MTV’s kind, kind words about your’s truly.  MTV Hive also provided a link for you to purchase a digital download of Cowards, and you can buy the 7” from our store HERE.

Happy New Year and we’ll see you soon!

  • Hell (heaven) Week

The week of Courage is upon us, so naturally, we have plenty to say. I mean like, this is about to be the clown car of blog posts. There is so much we have to cram into this one post, if you’re not careful, you might be about to read those eyeballs right outta you’re pretty lil skull.

    You have been warned.

FIRST: We have the last (and maybe best) live video from our performance at The Living Room Studio ready for viewing. We posted a different video of this song back when we recorded it for the album, but we think it deserves an encore. Don’t You?

“Fake It” LIVE at The Living Room from Vox and the Hound on Vimeo.

SECOND: NOLA.com is streaming our entire album this week! If you want to get your early ears on this LP of ours, this may be your last chance. They also wrote an excellent article on us and the album’s release, complete with top-notch supplementary YouTube videos. CHECK IT OUT!

THIRD: NOLA Defender also wrote a rather rousing tale about us and our upcoming album. No YouTube videos, but the way this piece spins our story is enough to get even us excited, and we’ve heard our story a million times. Plus, it makes mention of some fun things we’ve been up to, liiiiiike….

FOURTH: So as you may know by now, our good friends Sports & Leisure are opening the show Friday night for our album release party, and we’ve been working hard together to promote the show. Well, somewhere between legitimate brainstorming and spitting out absurdities, we came up with the idea to cover each other’s songs, record the results and release them into the wild. Pluck those tracks right out of cyberspace, free of charge, HERE.

FIFTH: This past weekend, we had the privilege of surfing the media propelled airwaves on the likes of WDSU and WTUL. This week, we continue the hogging of valuable air time, and we’d like to think a few of you might be interested in tuning in.  We’ll be on WWOZ Wednesday at 1 pm. We’ll also be hogging more of the internet in the days to come, but I’m sure we’ll manage to bring those items to your attention as they pop up.

SIXTH: Not only can we spread ourselves over the television, radio and internet, but we can also physically spread ourselves over the map. To further celebrate the release of Courage, we’ll be road tripping around Louisiana and Texas in the next couple weeks. For details, visit our tour dates page.

AND FINALLY: The old news, you can now get tickets to our release show. The new news, TICKETS ARE RUNNING OUT! We’ve only got a couple left, and Sports & Leisure are selling them like hotcakes. Don’t take a chance on missing out on this party. GET YOUR TICKETS FAST!

Ok, tired? Yeah, us too. See ya Friday!

  • Vox and the Videos, Tour Dates, Tickets, and Just Read Already

Pop quiz, hotshot: did you know that the “Courage” release show is in less than three weeks?  Oh yes it is.  And to get you even more psyched about it, we have yet ANOTHER video for you.

This is from the private performance of “Courage” at The Living Room Studio in July 2012.  Basically, we took over the studio one more time to turn it into a live venue where we performed the album in its entirety with help from many of the guest musicians who are featured in the recordings.  (Yes, this show is the origin of the footage from the “Courage” trailer, which you can and should view HERE).  We will be releasing more videos from the show as we get closer to the release, but you can get a piece of the action below by watching ”Sandcastles” from that very special night.

Sandcastles LIVE at The Living Room from Vox and the Hound on Vimeo.

But that’s not all!  We also want to use this post to formally announce the first leg of the COURAGE TOUR.  That’s right, we’ll be taking the show on the road to get our record in as many hands (ears?) as possible, and our Louisiana friends who live outside of New Orleans will be able to check us out on the following dates….

    • 11/28 - Baton Rouge, LA: Varsity Theater with The Dash Between, Luxley, and Maps and Makers
    • 11/29 - Lafayette, LA: Artmosphere with Carbon Poppies
    • 11/30 - New Orleans, LA: COURAGE RELEASE SHOW at the House of Blues Parish Room with Sports & Leisure (Click HERE for Facebook event so all your friends can see how cool you are by going to this)
    • 12/1 - Shreveport, LA: Bear’s on Fairfield

If you would like to purchase tickets in advance to either the Baton Rouge or New Orleans shows, either click HERE or contact a band member to get one without the service charge (yes, we’ll come to you. with big smiles on our faces).  Remember that if you are among the first to buy a ticket from a member of Vox and the Hound for the release show on 11/30, you will get a FREE SHOW POSTER.  We don’t have many show posters left, so move fast if you want one (if you want to get in on this, contact any band member you feel comfortable being seen in public with, email us at voxandthehound@gmail.com, or click HERE to purchase them from our online store.  You can also buy record/ticket combo deals there as well as other goodies).

Finally, we want to thank our good friend Dominque LeJeune for writing an awesome article on us for Antigravity Magazine.  The issue (their 100th!) is out on newsstands in New Orleans now, and should be on their website soon.  Go read (if you can)!

Get all that?  Good.  It was a mouthful.  Take a minute to process all the info and don’t forget to come get Courageous with us on November 30 at the Parish!  You know we could all be a bit more courageous.

    Especially this guy

  • Step Right Up and Get Your Ticket!

    Greetings,

So by now, you may have heard that we are releasing our album, Courage, on November 30 at the Parish Room at the House of Blues.  You may have even seen the trailer for the album (if not, you can watch it here).  However, what you may not know is that you can buy your tickets for this show right now.

Only our's don't come out of arcade games when you win.

But how?  Where?  Relax, for we have all the answers.

First, you can buy them online HERE.  Since you are buying them through the big ticket store (rhymes with “Picket Caster”), there is a service charge if you buy them online.  If you do not want to pay the service charge, well, that leads us to our second point…

Buy them from us!  That’s right, if you buy your ticket from one of us, you will pay face value.  But that’s not all!  If you are one of the first 50 people to buy personally a ticket from a member of Vox and the Hound, you get a free show poster.  Yep.  A free awesome poster designed by the one and only Alex Hertz.

So, to get your poster, get on the horn ASAP and contact Leo DeJesus, Rory Callais, D-Ray, Andrew Jarman, or Eric Rogers.  If you don’t do the Twitter/Facebook thing, you can always email us at voxandthehound@gmail.com.

Whether you buy your ticket online or buy your ticket from one of us, the important thing is that you buy your ticket soon to see us put out Courage in proper fashion.  It’s the right thing to do.

For our first news item on the new website, we thought we’d keep things simple and just show you guys the awesome poster for our release show (on November 30 at the Parish) designed by Alex Hertz and the trailer for our upcoming album.  Enjoy!
